In a kiln in Kyoto operating for over 100 years, a technique called “Hanakessho” (flower crystals) has been developed recently using a crystalline glaze.
This original technique creates crystal formations resembling flowers that float up on the surface of the container.
The door handles, crafted to fit comfortably in the hand and finished round on a potter’s wheel, showcase the beautiful blossoms brought forth by “Hanakessho.” They feature a minimal design with an elegant brass base.

Traditional Crafts

The flower-patterned crystals that emerge on the surface of the object as the glaze melts and cools are said to be highly susceptible to the influences of the day's natural environment. This makes the production of crystals a truly significant feat. Each one of these items is unique and reflects the character of Kyoto on the day it was produced.

Their forms balance the accumulation of glazed patterns with a shape that fits comfortably in the hand, showcasing the beauty of each and every glazed work.
